Sleep deprivation is becoming the biggest problem affecting people. Hectic lifestyle, stressful situations and decisions, pressure inducing habits, never ending work schedules makes every body forgo their sleep and then suffer later. More and more people are taking sleeping pills to help them sleep better. Even if they do make it to bed in time their mind just won’t stop thinking and stressing over every little thing in their life. This leads to tossing and turning the whole night.
Some people think it has to do with the wrong mattress and pillows. This could be the reason partly but honestly it has to do with the surroundings one goes to sleep in; the room has to be dark completely, lights can affect sleeping pattern, sound and noises around the house add to being jarred out of sleep or not helping one calm down and fall asleep. Some people resort to smoking or having something to drink to help them relax, others just pop a pill. This is not good in the long run, becoming pill dependent is not a healthy choice. Long term use of the pill can also make it ineffective and dosage might have to be upped which again is not good for the body.
To overcome this problem sleep machines are being advised for insomniacs and people who have trouble falling asleep. Sleep machines are also called sound machines and unlike the name is not noisy. This machine makes sounds that a body associates with falling asleep. This activates nerves and chemical responses to help one fall asleep. White noise machines is another name for the sleep machine. Some of the noises this machine makes are like a gurgling waterfall or wind blowing softly or soft rain. It can also play sounds of the ocean which lulls a lot of people to fall asleep.
A pre recording of this sound is installed into the machine and the machine keeps playing this repeatedly. The volume of the machine can be set as per the individual’s choice, although it is recommended to play it on a low volume so that the sound is more like a track running in the background. These machines are compact in size and look quite like an alarm clock. Different models are available, some with soothing lights to help those who can not sleep in complete darkness. Here the soothing light is not harsh and works as a cue for the body to fall asleep.
